About
Reporting directly to the Site Superintendent and General Foreman, the Foreman is responsible for the daily performance of work at their project site. The Foreman is responsible for the assignment of work to the crew(s) under their supervision. Foremen monitor and inspect work in progress to ensure it is completed in a satisfactory manner and per direction from the Site Superintendent and General Foreman. The main objective of the Foreman is to ensure quality work is performed efficiently, safely and on-time. Depending on project assignment, the Foreman may strictly be supervisory or be a hands-on working Foreman (most commonly as a Pipelayer, Topman or Heavy Equipment Operator).
Job Description
Work closely with the Superintendent and General Foreman to execute jobsite work activities in an effective and efficient manner that conforms to CRE’s high quality and safety standards.
Supervise, motivate, inspect, observe, and delegate tasks to workers.
Resolve problems as they arise and report on progress to Superintendents or General Foreman.
Assist the superintendent with organizing and coordinating the daily activities of all crew members, sub-contractors and equipment.
Lead, mentor and motivate crew members while demonstrating team values and work ethic.
Ensure all applicable safety and environmental regulations are adhered to throughout the construction process.
Qualifications
3 years of Supervisor / Foreman experience in civil / infrastructure construction, preferably in the areas of sewer, water and earthworks.
Prior experience as a Labourer, Pipelayer or Heavy Equipment Operator in sewer, water and earthworks projects an asset.
Proficient in both written and verbal English, with the ability to provide clear direction to crew members, especially with regard to safety and work tasks.
Proven leader of people able to engage and motivate a team to consistently deliver their best work.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as well as attention to detail.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
