Key Responsibilities:

This position is an integral part of the senior leadership team, working closely with the President, Operations Manager and Financial Controller to execute current projects and identify future opportunities. Your work will focus on:

  • The provision of Civil Engineering design services for public and private developments.
  • Overseeing all aspects of construction project management:
    • Developing scope of work and project schedules

    • Managing billing and monthly progress payments 

    • Sourcing required materials and regular monitoring of the supply chain to mitigate any potential delays or impacts to project progress.

    • Working with subcontractors to monitor invoicing and ensure contract compliance.

Qualifications + Experience:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, registered as a professional engineer, and extensive experience in construction monitoring and inspecting activities on large civil projects or, an equivalent combination of education and experience, including limited license. 
  • Experience submitting large-scale project bids including the preparation of tenders.
  • Experience analyzing potential issues and developing solutions to mitigate impacts.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specification, codes and standards.
  • Sound judgement, excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and prioritizing skills to anticipate and assess situations and determine the best solution or course of action.

Key Responsibilities:

The Safety manager will be responsible for maintenance of CRE’s Health & Safety program and policies. The Safety Manger is required to identify best practices and incorporate these best practices into our corporate standards to continuously improve company safety programs and policies.

  • Manage CRE occupational health and safety programs and policies.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of OH&S Act and Regulations and CRE company policies and Procedures.

  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Safety Policies.

  • Carry out procedures that effectively control accident and health exposures at jobsites and minimize OH&S citations.

  • Develops and recommends new procedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based on reports of incidents, accidents, and other data gathered.

  • Oversees administration of the Return-to-Work Program.

  • Responsible for the implementation and operations of the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures.

  • Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design site-specific programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injuries.

  • For all jobsite deficiencies, work with Superintendents to identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.

  • Monitors and evaluates all construction work for compliance with safety requirements.

  • Evaluates working conditions and recommends changes in methods and work procedures in relation to safety methods, practices and procedures.

  • Assists in conducting inspections and enforcing adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.

  • Disseminates information to jobsite workers and others regarding toxic substances, hazards, and other safety information.

  • Assists Project Managers and administrators in enforcing safety regulations and codes.

  • Conducts jobsite surveys on periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures.

  • Following incidents of construction-related accidents, performs a thorough investigation to ensure that all required policies were followed.

  • Maintains administrative control of records related to safety and health programs.

  • Perform frequent site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site, and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.

  • Conducts training, orientation and safety meetings for new hire and subcontractor employees.

  • Oversees any Junior Safety related positions.

Qualifications + Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of heavy construction experience.

  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent degree/work experience is preferred.

  • CSO or NSCO certification.

  • Knowledge of construction safety, OH&S Act & Regulations requirements is a must.

  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills; demonstrate good organizational and communications skills.

  • Candidates must be able to act independently with little or no supervision and as a team player.

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.

  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
